Since 1967, Hesse-Honegger has produced hyper-realist aquarelles that record morphological changes in insects exposed to radiation under laboratory conditions.
In 1986 she began to produce studies in non controlled contexts; specifically of insects affected by the fallout from the Chernobyl Disaster, or living in close proximity to nuclear power installations ( sellafield etc ). Her findings beautifully depict potentially catastrophic mutations in the food chain.
