Born 1964
Elizabeth Wright was born in 1964 and studied at The Royal College of Art and Birmingham Polytechnic. She has shown internationally since 1990. Her sculptures of everyday objects either enlarged or reduced in scale distort the viewers’ perceptions of ‘correct’ scale.
Elizabeth Wright's work upsets our perception of actual size by enlarging or reducing familiar objects and (re)presenting them in their everyday environments. The seemingly familiar objects confound our expectations of what is actual and thus what is correct. They become sculptures, presented to us afresh, a fascinating spectacle.
