Wallinger came to prominence in Britain in the mid 1980s and has since earned an international reputation.

His work takes many forms, and displays a restless energy that is both intelligently provocative and humorous. It addresses the traditions and values of British society, its class system and organised religion employing irony, satire and a formal clarity.
