Born 1959 Chigwell, England
Wallinger came to prominence in Britain in the mid 1980s and has since earned an international reputation.
His work takes many forms, and displays a restless energy that is both intelligently provocative and humorous. It addresses the traditions and values of British society, its class system and organised religion employing irony, satire and a formal clarity.
Locus+ have commissioned two projects with Mark Wallinger; A Real Work of Art, 1994; and The Underworld, 2004.
