A major new work by Katie Paterson, Totality, will premiere at Somerset House from 27 April – 22 May as part of Utopia 2016: A Year of Imagination and Possibility. The work has been commissioned as part of the Arts Council Collection's 70th Anniversary celebrations.
Totality is a mirror ball comprising images of nearly every solar eclipse that has been documented by humankind; through drawings and since photography began, including the oldest solar eclipse drawings from hundreds of years ago, and the earliest 19th century photographs, to images from the most technological advanced telescopes now.

Following the launch of Totality in London, Katie Paterson opens a major solo exhibition,Syzygy, at The Lowry, Manchester. The exhibition surveys Paterson's recent work and includes a new commission, Constellation, Capricornus, an immersive light installation comprising a string of festoon lights matching the brightness of stars in a constellation.
